Professional Development and Training for HKSH Staff Scaling New Heights with New Scholarship

(January 18, 2016) Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital plans to provide top-level on-the-job training for more than 150 nursing and allied health staff in the next few years as the initial wave to build up a pool of healthcare leaders with international outlook as well as cutting edge knowledge and skills.

The pilot scheme will open a new realm for staff members to pursue higher training and reach new heights in expertise and professionalism, at the same time building a new model from which level of healthcare can be further enhanced through improvements initiated by frontline staff after training.

This new training platform has been set up with a donation of HK$50 million from The Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust. The fund is used to set up the "Lady Lau Ip Sok Wun Memorial Scholarship" in honour of the late mother of Mr. Joseph Lau. The Scholarship is targeted for the Hospital’s 900 nursing and 400-plus allied health professionals, such as physiotherapists, pharmacists, radiation therapists, radiographers, dietitians, speech therapists, occupational therapists.
