Dr. Walton LI, Medical Superintendent of Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital (HKSH) was conferred upon Doctor of Social Sciences honoris causa at the 190th Congregation of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) on 18 March 2014.

The honorary degree is awarded in recognition of his contribution and commitment to the community and the medical academia.

Dr. the Honourable Sir David LI Kwok Po, Pro-Chancellor of HKU conferred honorary degrees upon five outstanding individuals at the Congregation Ceremony. Apart from Dr. Walton LI, the Honourable WONG Yan Lung, Professor HUANG Jiefu, Dr. Ann HUI On Wah and Zen Master Thich Nhat-Hanh also received the honour.
