"Walk for Vision" Walkathon - Thanks for Support

On 26 April 2009, over 200 doctors, hospital staff and their relatives hit the road in "Walk for Vision", the first walkathon organised by the Village Club. Supported by the Dr. Ellen Li Charitable Foundation, this 11-km Walkathon aims at raising funds for Ebenezer School & Home for the Visually Impaired to purchase a specially equipped minibus for transportation of children with special needs.

The Walkathon started at 8:30 am. Participants were required to trek or run along a circular route from the Hospital towards the Violet Hill, passing Sing Woo Road, Tai Hang Road and Wong Nai Chung Gap Road, before heading back to the car park in front of the Fan Block. The overcast weather hardly dampened the high spirits of the participants.

Over HK$ 400,000 were raised from this Walkathon, and the remaining difference for the specially equipped minibus. i.e. about HK$ 300,000, was topped up by the Hospital. The Hospital would like to thank all the sponsors and donors for their support and the volunteers for their effort towards the Walkathon.
